How Dr. Benton might use PAIGE with the Emergency Medicine & Urgent Care database.

Suppose Dr. Benton works in the AfterHours Emergency Clinic. He needs instructions that can be created quickly, yet are quite specific to the patient's condition and treatment. Because he's just one of ten physicians that work there, the instructions also have to be flexible enough for differing practice styles. He needs an instruction system that doesn't bankrupt the budget. He needs PAIGE.

PAIGE creates instructions by using "pieces:" general disease discription; treatment instruction, followup instruction. These are quickly picked from menus. The instruction text is easily edited if it doesn't exactly fit a specific patient. It's easy to create new instructions. And instruction "pieces" can be linked together into a "Plan" so disease, treatment, and followup can be selected at a single mouse-click.

In the Emergency Medicine version, the instruction text "flavor" is episodic care or first-encounter beginning of treatment. Our instruction text is so good, it's used by many other companies (at a significant markup) within their own patient instruction programs.
